This folder contains a collection of reflections by Andy Fyon about my time working as a geologist across Ontario and visiting places in Canada’s far north. Some stories reflect my experiences gained as a leader of a geoscience government organization called the Ontario Geological Survey or as a tourist. Most of the reflections describe experiences gained in Ontario, Canada. Some stories are humorous, some are pensive, and some are just silly.

I did include many stories about engaging with far north, remote First Nations people, but those stories now appear my book entitled: Walking Together: Engagement Lessons from My First Nations Learning Journey. The book chronicles my experiences engaging with First Nations people living in Ontario's far north. They encouraged me to share their lessons to create a broader awareness and understanding of remote First Nations culture, values, world views, community life, and engagement expectations. Walking Together is relevant to anyone working in government, industry, or academia who is engaging, or who plans to engage, with remote First Nations people regardless of your occupation, including the broadening of your own reconciliation journey. Walking Together provides you and your organization with ideas to help build relationships with remote First Nations people, help avoid common mistakes, and prepare you to jointly design and implement engagement.
